TEHRAN -- Egyptians want to break ties with the Zionist regime, Secretary General of Egypt’s Islamist Labor Party (Al-Amal) has said.

In an interview with the Fars News agency in Cairo, Magdi Hussein, pointed to the recent demonstrations in different parts of Egypt, calling for the removal of Israeli flag from the Egyptian soil.
“Without doubt, Egyptian revolution is not restricted to the internal issues only but the revolutionaries are also demanding for a full restructuring of Egypt’s international relations with other countries,” he added.
He added, “One of the wrong policies of Hosni Mubarak was to establish relations and strategic coalition with Israel. But now, Egyptian people have held protests and call upon the new government to cut off relations with the Zionist regime and to close its embassy in Cairo.
“One of the main objectives of the Egyptian revolution was to break ties with Tel Aviv and people are reiterating this demand during their daily protest. They want their government to support the people of Gaza,” Hussein said.
“Disconnecting with Israel requires more time and patience, but in the current political atmosphere, there is no prospect of cooperation with Tel Aviv,” he concluded.
